The Banking 50 supports Moldova’s #1 bank with strategy review sessions

The Banking 50 and Wisselbanck helped maib with their strategy refreshment session in Amsterdam for 60 of its top and middle managers

October 19-21 – Maib took nearly 60 of its top and middle managers to a strategic review session in Amsterdam. Wisselbanck arranged presentations, workshops and visits to expose the group to best practices from ABN AMRO Bank, ING Bank and Rabobank and The Banking 50 hosted an event on the last day, bringing together the delegation of maib with executives from the Dutch banking and finance sector.

Benchmarking the strategy

This was the second time Wisselbanck organized a trip for maib. The previous trip was focused on branch network transformation. This 3-day event focused on trends in global banking today and emerging challenges of the near future. Some specific discussions and sessions covered the following:

  • customer experience and centricity;
  • digital channels;
  • distribution network;
  • ecosystems;
  • payments;
  • international expansion of digital services.

Maib team visited newly updated branches of ING and saw highly innovative “home” concept of banking branch being rolled out by ING across its network.

A variety of speakers included the team which implemented Agile at ING sharing their insights into the revolutionary development. During the session, Maib’s performance across various metrics was benchmarked against regional and global peers.

A trip to Utrecht gave the group a chance to get another perspective on Agile implementation as well. Senior executives from Rabobank presented on the banks Agile @ Scale project.

On the final day of the program, ABN AMRO Bank shared their best practices in UX, Corporate Banking, and how to nurture innovation within the organization. The top-3 Dutch banks offered maib a great opportunity to benchmark their strategy.

Executive networking with The Banking 50

In the evening, maib’s team mingled with executives from the Dutch banking and finance sector. Most of the major banks were present, as well as the CEO from the country’s largest payment system and several experienced services companies.
